THC/MG Limits

Canada’s cannabis regulations, overseen by Health Canada, set strict limits on THC content and package sizes to promote responsible use and safety. These rules apply nationwide, though provinces like Ontario may add retail-specific guidelines. Understanding them helps consumers navigate purchases effectively.

dried flower and pre-rolls

For dried flower and pre-rolls, there’s no per-package THC cap, but packages are typically limited to 30 grams or less in practice, aligning with the public possession limit of 30 grams of dried cannabis (or equivalents). Give us a call to find out the max THC amount for your favourite edibles, as the limits are increasing.

Cannabis extracts

Cannabis extracts, including ingested oils and inhaled concentrates, are capped at 1,000 mg THC per package. This directly affects products like hash, a solid concentrate. For instance, if hash has around 25% THC (250 mg/g), a package could max out at 4 grams to stay under 1,000 mg total THC—explaining why larger quantities aren’t commonly available in one container. Possession equivalents treat 1 gram of solid concentrate as 4 grams of dried cannabis, so the 30-gram dried limit translates to just 7.5 grams of hash overall.

These limits ensure products remain accessible yet controlled, reducing risks of overconsumption. Always check product labels for exact THC content, as potency varies by strain and format.
